July 31, 2011

I have been crocheting like crazy lately. I have crocheted washclothes, bibs, hats and I am prepping to start my first crochet afghan. I am learning new stitches, how to attach another color of yarn and how to seem two things together.

I have been inspired by the sea again this year. I love the colors of teal, purple and lime green........those color combinations are so refreshing to me.

I am ready to start work again after the summer and am getting excited about the various projects on my needles.

As far as our monthly knitting meeting, we have joined the local Houston Guild Knitting at Night Guild (KANG) and are known as Knitting in Kingwood (KIK). We are now 59 ladies strong and growing. I think we are the fastest growing group in the guild. It's wonderful to see the group grow. Although there have been some growing pains. However, many of the ladies really wanted to grow and learn more!! That, to me, is exciting!!!

That's about all for now. Will try to post more often. :-D

Wow! I had forgotten that I had a blog about knitting. Well, It's been over a year since I have posted and I have made wonderful strides in my knitting. On a personal note, I have had a rough first year working back in the school system. I used my knitting as a form of escape. I also was diagnosed this year with fibromyalgia. Once again, knitting has helped me through this turmoil as well. I think I will try to post a few of my projects. I love them all and have learned so much about knitting. This photo is Ann Norling's Multi-directional Scarf. What a great way to learn wrap and turns. This is one of my favorite scarves to wear....especially since Houston had a remarkably cold winter this past winter. The next photo is of a "snowboarding" hat knit in one piece. As long as the directions are followed to a "T", then it's very easy. I just need to add the pom poms to the hat!

my Ann Norling Hat

Well, I finally broke down and took the beginner hat class at Twisted Yarns. Boy, am I glad that I took it. I learned how to knit on two interchangibles instead of DPN's. What a concept that I'm thrilled about. I'm happy that I don't "Have" to work with DPN's. They were tough to work with!

I am now ready to decrease on the hat and should have it finished next week. It will be posted on my ravelry page. (www.ravelry.com)

I just placed an order with knitpicks and am ready to begin my next project.....a purse. I ran across this adorable red, white and blue purse and wanted to stitch it just in time for July 4th!

Anyway, happy knitting,
Tracy

April 2009

Wow! Our knitting group here in Kingwood is taking off! The ladies have decided the name for the group is Kingwood Yarn It, Darn It group. We wanted to include not only knitters, but crocheters and anyone else who loves yarn. We have our third meeting at the Kingwood Library scheduled for April 25th. It sounds like there will be a nice turn out.

I have completed my sursa shawl and love it. Check out the photos on ravelry. I am scheduled to take the hat class this month at Twisted Yarns. I just can't seem to keep my stitches straight while using DPN's. Oh well, "patience, grasshopper." :-) So, hopefully a class will help me learn how to keep it all straight.

Wishing everyone a wonderful spring and I hope everyone finds time for yarn,

Tracy

My first knitting group meeting

Today we had success with the first knitting group in Kingwood at the public library. I met some wonderful people who share the same passion for yarn as I do. The nice thing about our group is that the skill level ranges from beginner to advanced. It was so nice to share knitting suggestions with each other. Our next meeting will take place at Kingwood Library March 21st from 10-12. So, if you are in the area, and share the passion, please join us. We would love to have you.
